Removing Perfume Smell from Clothing
When fragrance gets on clothing, its oil and aroma can cling stubbornly to the fabric. This can be quite annoying and even cause problems for people with allergies. Written below are some suggestions on how you can remove the smell from garments the next time you do the laundry.
The smell of perfume breaks down when exposed to heat, light, and oxygen. Try tumbling the articles of clothing at low heat in a dryer. If desired, this can be done together with a fragrance-free dryer sheet and towels to help absorb the smell. Afterwards, you can hang it in an open area for several hours or days.
To treat stubborn scents, use a spray-on fabric freshener. To do this, hang the item up and lightly spray on both sides with the mentioned product. Turn the garment inside out and spray the reverse side. Lastly, tumble dry for a few minutes.
Wash items with fragrance-free clothes detergent. You can also opt to add a half or one full cup of white vinegar during the rinse cycle. Rinse it again in plain water to remove any traces of odour. Or you can make use of products that can break down essential oils.
